CDL Driver

CDL Driver

 

Water Worx Services, Inc. is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time CDL Driver position.  This position is responsible for a variety of activities related to the company’s overall success.  Our success is built from the dedicated service of each one of our team members.  The CDL Driver position will be instrumental in the company’s core values as core focus is at the forefront of what we do. Possess great physical stamina and focus during long driving shifts.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from the Director of Operations. 

This position has no supervision responsibilities
 
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
CDL Drivers will be passionate, energetic, and a motivated leader who cares about their work and team.  The purpose of the CDL Driver is to assist the construction and service division in accomplishing their goals by providing support in the form of transportation.  CDL Drivers should establish a good working relationship with customers, contractors, vendors, inspectors, and subcontractors. This position has varying work hours, including working overtime and weekends when needed.

 

SALARY RANGE

Full Time:  $23.00 - $28.00 per hour

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Knowledge of:

  • Practices and utilization of equipment, tools, and materials used in the installation and maintenance of water, sewer, and storm systems.
  • Operation procedures for heavy transport equipment.
  • Practices and techniques of performing field inspections related to areas of assignment.
  • Understanding of state and local ordinances, regulations, and guidelines related to assigned duties.
  • Recordkeeping and report preparation techniques and practices.
  • Basic knowledge of truck maintenance is needed.
  • Safe work methods and safety practices pertaining to the work.
  • Basic computer software related to work such as fleet management programs. 
  • English usage, spelling, vocabulary, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Techniques for dealing effectively with the public, vendors, contractors, and Company staff in person and over the telephone.
  • Techniques for effectively representing the Company when contacting governmental agencies, contractors, property management representatives, and the public.
  • Techniques for providing a high level of customer service to the public, in person, and over the telephone.

 

Ability to:

  • Operate a variety of equipment for the purpose of loading and offloading. 
  • Recognize potential violations of regulatory and legal standards.
  • Perform pre and post vehicle inspections daily. 
  • Maintain a CDL, class A, driver’s license while being employed. 
  • Develop and maintain accurate logs, reports, and written records of work performed.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Follow and understand technical manuals for the vehicle. 
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Organize your own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines.
  • Use English effectively to communicate in person, over the telephone, and in writing.
  • Use tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgment within general policy, procedural, and legal guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

 

Examples of Typical Job Functions:
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
  • Pull and move various trailers. 
  • Pick-up and safely transport material and equipment. 
  • Ensure contents are properly secured in a truck/flatbed to prevent damage/injury.
  • Operate the Jet/Vac truck as needed. 
  • Assist construction crews as operational needs arise. 
  • Follow delivery schedule as advised. 
  • Track and report working hours.
  • Adhere to company rules and regulations.
  • Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in accordance with the weather/road conditions.
  • Comply with ICC and DOT regulations.
  • Always make safety a priority.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Experience and Training Guidelines:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

 

Experience:
Five (5) years of experience transporting equipment or operating a Jet/Vac truck.

Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by specialized technical training.
 
License or Certificate:

  • Valid North Carolina, class A, driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
  • Tank Endorsement (within 3 months of employment).

Underground Crewman III

Underground Crewman III

Water Worx Services, Inc. is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position as an Underground Crewman III. This position is responsible for variety of activities related to the company’s overall success. Our success is built from the dedicated service of each one of our team members.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from the Construction Manager. This position will supervise the crew members put under their charge.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
Underground Crewman III will be responsible for the day-to-day preventive maintenance of tools, equipment, and fleet vehicles used to accomplish their job. This role is required
to work safely and productively in an industrial environment. The Underground Crewman III should be available for any schedule and can move to our other locations as needed. This includes working overtime, and weekends as needed. These leaders must be highly motivated, able to complete tasks without direct supervision, and able to communicate issues to their supervisor. This role receives guidance with respect to general objectives. Good judgment is required in all duties and any other tasks as assigned and directed by the division managers, and operation manager. Minimal overnight travel as required. This job description provides an overview of responsibilities and tasks to be performed. It is not intended to be an all-inclusive job description as needs tend to change over time.

SALARY RANGE
Full Time: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour

o Plan, coordinate, and complete projects as needed based off operational and project needs.
o Work directly with the construction manager on project resources, and subcontractors needed to complete daily tasks.
o Instruct, supervise, and evaluate your crewmen daily.
o Operate, maintain, inventory and be RESPONSIBLE for company truck and its contents.
o Know plumbing/utility codes for many different municipalities.
o Know how various types of pipes connect and the different applications.
o Understand how to set up construction instruments such as pipe laser, transits and other measuring devices.
o Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials, using trucks, rakes, or related equipment.
o Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades and buckets to move asphalt, stone, and dirt.
o Operate machines to spread, smooth, level, and compact asphalt, stone, and dirt.
o Demo and remove existing asphalt and concrete prior to utility construction.
o Perform asphalt patching in streets, parking lots and driveways.
o Perform concrete patching in parking lots, sidewalks, and other areas.
o Job site final grading, clean up and demobilizing from a completed project.
o Some out-of-town travel/stays may be required.
o Inspect, clean, maintain, and repair equipment, using mechanics. Conduct before and after job inspections and report any concerns or malfunctions to supervisors.
o Learn and follow safety regulations.
o Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.
o Perform necessary work while complying with all company policies and procedures.
o Perform additional duties as required or directed by management.
o Other duties as assigned.

o Valid North Carolina, class A, driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
o OSHA Competent Person
o Tank Endorsement (within 3 months of employment).
